House Bill No. 35
Markell’s Ban on Private Sales – Backdoor Registration & Discriminatory Mandatory Fees Passed the House, as expected, and now heads to the Senate – but……….
But, because of all of your hard work, and all of your emails, phone calls, visits to Legislative Hall, letters and visits with legislators, the bill that the senate will consider is much, much different than the bill Markell was originally trying to ram down our throats.
Thank you, one and all, for the many visits to legislative Hall, for your very well presented testimony before the House judiciary Committee and for all of the emails and phone calls.
Because of your participation, Markell’s original bill was amended numerous times so as to remove many of the more draconian measures and to insert safeguards designed to stop the police from creating and maintaining lists of guns and gun owners, to stop the press from invading your privacy and to stop greedy gun dealers from charging exorbitant fees.
Is this now a good bill? No! HB 35 is still a very bad bill and now we must work to stop it in the Senate.
It still requires “defacto” federal registration of privately sold firearms and it must be defeated!
Yes, because of all that you have done, HB 35 is better than it was – but our work is far from over.
HB 35 is still a very bad bill and its contents are still very bad public policy, and an insult to the integrity and good judgment of every law-abiding gun owner in Delaware.
Call your Senator today and ask them to vote “NO” on HB 35!!!
